The 5th Annual School Maker Faire Nanshan is almost here!

Come one, come all to the 5th Annual School Maker Faire Nanshan, hosted by Shenzhen American International School and Design Society! Come wonder and marvel at Shenzhen’s incredible young makers, designers, and innovators as they share their learning, innovations, and how it impacts their community and world. This year’s focus will be on how to integrate student innovation into the school curriculum. Students will share examples of maker products that are linked to the school’s core academic program. There will be post-event meet-ups where educators can discuss Project Based Learning, Design Thinking, and UN Sustainable Development Goals integration. Perhaps YOU will be inspired to increase maker education in your school community!

What is the School Maker Faire Nanshan?

Started in 2016, the first School Maker Faire Nanshan was held at Shenzhen American International School. The goal was to give students a platform for sharing and connecting the education community at large. The youngsters that participated in the inaugural event joined the world-wide celebration of making, innovation, creativity, and resourcefulness at the Faire. Since then, the annual School Maker Faire Nanshan has continued to grow in participation and inspiration. It has become more interactive and diverse each year, with over 86 booths run by international schools, public schools and other organizations. It is an event where students can show people what they are making, why, and share what they are learning. It is a place where educators can exchange ideas. It is a space where communities can identify new resources. The School Maker Faire Nanshan has grown into a supportive network of schools, organizations, students, educators, and families excited to exhibit annually.

Continuous Workshops

Get ready to be busy using your hands at a variety of workshops, while learning something new. From making VR goggles to creating immersive art in XR,

get your hands dirty with wood crafts. make a simple circuit or a wearable piece. Learn how to be a video editor, how to program on micro:bit, or build a robotic car.

Maker Ed Meet-Up

After the Faire, there will be time for adults to gather and share. Grab some beer and come to the Maker Ed Meet-Up in an informal and casual setting after the show. Maker Education risk-takers and innovators will share what’s happening in the Shenzhen Maker Community, what has worked and what hasn’t for them when implementing Maker Education. We will be gathering a short walk from Design Society. Details to follow.
